Testing Options

Two types of molecular microbial diagnostic tests are offered at PathoGenius®. In both types of analysis, the microbial DNA is extracted from the patient's swab, washing, or tissue sample. The microbial DNA is then analyzed using molecular diagnostic methods. The report contains information about the pathogenic organisms detected.

The Level 1 Rapid Screen diagnostic panels are designed for each specific application to screen for about 24 of the most commonly identified microbes of concern in that field of medicine using quantitative PCR. Thus, the Level 1 Wound panel is different from the Level 1 ENT panel.

The Level 2 DecodEXTM test sequences the entire microbial DNA from the sample and identifies the pathogens and the relative percent abundance in which they appear in the sample. More information is available below.

The Respiratory Viral Panel offered by PathoGenius® is the most sensitive rapid screen test available for targeted respiratory viruses based on an independent study. Utilizing both bacterial and viral molecular diagnostic panels guides physicians in selecting the most targeted effective approach for community-acquired pneumonia and other respiratory infections.
